Tim Steinhilber

2020 WSHF inductee

The Wynford High School class of 1975 salutatorian, Tim Steinhilber was a three-sport star who earned 10 letters for the Royals but excelled most in basketball as a 1,000-point scorer who went onto play in college.

As a basketball player at Wynford, Steinhilber was voted an All-Ohio Class A first-team selection, a two-time All-North Central Conference first-team selection and two-time team MVP as voted by his teams. The center and strong forward was the District 6 player of the year in his senior season and participated in the North-South All-Star Game.

Steinhilber also played quarterback and defensive end in football and was team two-time MVP on the baseball field. As a senior, he batted .350 as a first baseman and posted a 0.55 ERA as a pitcher, leading the Royals to an NCC championship.

After graduation, Steinhilber went onto play basketball at Ohio Northern University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1979. As a licensed professional engineer in five states, he completed a 28-year career with the Bechtel Group of Companies before starting a second career with Transurban International, a global toll-road operator, filling the role of global delivery and operational excellence executive, including living two years in Sydney, Australia. Steinhilber recently started a third career as president of his private consulting firm, 360 Consultants.

Steinhilber and his father, Jim, will be the first father-son duo honored as members of the Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame. Jim was a member of the Nevada state champion track and field team inducted in the inaugural class in 2011.

He and his wife, Lisa, of almost 33 years, live in West Windsor, New Jersey, where Lisa also operates a private counseling firm. They have a daughter, Brianna, who is married and lives in Jersey City, New Jersey, works with NBC and is expecting Tim’s first grandchild. Another child, TJ, lives in Boston and is a professional engineer with Fluor Corporation.
