Emily (Bastel) Glaser

2024 WSHF inductee

Emily (Bastel) Glaser is a 1998 Upper Sandusky High School graduate who was a three-time all-Ohioan in golf, went on to become an All-American at Michigan State University, played six years professionally and then transitioned into being a successful college coach.

Her family has owned and operated Lincoln Hills Golf Club in Upper Sandusky since the 1930s. Her accomplished career with the Rams earned her a scholarship to Michigan State, where she four times was named to the All-Big Ten team and three times to the All-Big Ten Academic Team. She won a Big Ten team title as a junior and was an All-American as a senior in 2002.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in marketing, Glaser turned pro, spending three years (2004, 2007 and 2009) on the Futures Tour and three years (2005, 2006, 2008) on the LPGA Tour. Her professional career included a pair of top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour in 2005 and being named the Futures Tour player of the year in 2007. She shot an opening-round 66 in the 2008 LPGA Championship, the only major in her career in which she made the cut.

After retiring as a player, Glaser got into coaching, serving as an assistant coach at Duke University during the 2009-10 season before moving on to the University of Florida as an assistant coach for one year. She was promoted to head coach in 2012 and has served in that capacity since. The Gators qualified for the NCAA Championships in her first two seasons and then again in 2016. Florida won the Southeastern Conference title in 2017 and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships. Glaser coached the NCAA individual runner-up in 2019. The Gators qualified for NCAA Regionals for the 11th straight season in 2023 after making match play in back-to-back seasons in the SEC Championship.

Glaser was a three-time Ohio State Women’s amateur champion, represented the U.S. at the World Amateur Team Championships and in the Curtis Cup in 2002 and was a semifinalist in the U.S. Women’s Amateur in 2001. She was inducted into the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
