Danielle
(Jacoby) Butram 2025 WSHF inductee A 2007 graduate of Carey High School,
Danielle (Jacoby) Butram earned 11 letters in three sports, excelling most in
track and field. She was a 10-time All-Ohioan on the track with three state
championships in three different events. She went on to earn four letters at
the University of Toledo. Butram won her first state championship
as a freshman on Carey’s 4-by-200-meter relay team in 2004, and she was on
top of the podium again with her teammates in the 4-by-400 relay as a
sophomore in 2005. Finally, in 2007, she won a state title on her own,
topping the field in the open 400. She also placed fourth in the 200 and
eighth in the 100 that year. Her time with the Blue Devils also
included state runner-up finishes in the 4-by-100 relay and 4-by-200 relay in
2005 and in the 200-meter dash in 2006. Individually, she was seventh in the
100-meter dash in 2005. The Blue Devils won Midland Athletic League
championships in all four of her seasons and finished fourth in the state in
2005. Butram was a three-time Academic All-Ohioan as well. Though track was her top sport, Butram
earned All-Ohio honorable mention and first-team honors in the Northwest
District, in District 6 and the MAL in basketball her senior season when she
averaged 20.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. She also was a three-time letter winner
in cross country, was a National Honor Society member and graduated in the
top 10 in her class before extending her track career with the Toledo
Rockets. Highlights of her career at Toledo
include seventh place javelin throw in the Mid-American Conference
Championship in 2011, winning the distance medley in 12:09.33 in the Albany
Great Dane Classic in 2010 and ranking second in the all-time performance in
the 500 meters. She was second in the 500 meters in 1:20.57 at the Kent State
Golden Flash Gala in 2007 and third in the 400 meters in 58.27 seconds in the
Ohio Women’s Team Challenge in 2010. She placed third in the javelin throw at
33.22 meters and third in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.47 in the same event the
next year. She graduated with a Bachelor of
Science in electrical engineering in 2012 and then in civil engineering in
2013 and has stayed active in running. Butram participates in half-marathons,
10Ks and 5Ks and has been a member of Dave’s Racing Team for the past three
years. She is a civil engineer at Matrix Technologies in Maumee and lives
with her husband, Tim, in Toledo.
